The Hardin Education Fund is offering a scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year.

The scholarship, for up to $750 per year, will be awarded to a future teacher who is a full-time or part-time rising college junior or senior and who resides in Gaston, Randolph, or Richmond counties. Selection will be based on character, scholastic achievement and financial need. The scholarship fund is managed by the Community Foundation of Gaston Co., Inc., in Gastonia.

The Hardin Education Fund was established in memory of William G. and Hazel Vuncannon Hardin by their children, Pat Hardin of Asheboro and Gail and Bill Hardin of Brentwood, Tenn. Hazel Hardin was a native of Richmond County and a long time teacher in the Gaston County School System.

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2013.

For more information or to apply for the scholarship, contact the Community Foundation of Gaston County at 704-864-0927 or ewelsch@cfgaston.org.
