Dateline – Rockingham

Mrs. Ruth Maske Wicker, 92, formerly of Ellerbe, died Friday, October 14, 2011 at Rockingham Manor. She was born October 23, 1918 in Anson County, a daughter of the late John Fred Maske and Rosa Edwards Maske.

Mrs. Wicker was a member of Cameronian Presbyterian Church and was very active in the church ministries of the Hermitage and Rockingham Manor. She took care of children for many years in her home.

Funeral services were conducted 2:00 pm Monday, October 17th in the chapel of Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. William Wicker and Rev. Byron Wicker officiating. Interment followed in Eastside Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Annie Greene and husband Tommy of Ellerbe, Lorraine Pryce of Rock Hill, SC and Janie Rhyne and husband W. Charles of Ellerbe; two sons, Rev. William Wicker and wife Faye of Wallace, SC and Rev. Byron Wicker and wife Becky of Mooresville; fifteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren; and a sister, Bobbie Ann Wright of Polkton. Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband, William Clegg Wicker; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wicker; a grand daughter, Hanna Joy Wicker; brothers, Junior Van Maske, Edwin Maske, Jack Edwards Maske, and a sister, Rena Mae Maske.
