Rockingham teams victorious

EDEN — The Rockingham 10U Dixie All-Stars are one win away from advancing to the World Series.

The team knocked off West Brunswick 12-0 Monday night before holding off West Stanly 8-7 Tuesday to advance to the state finals.

West Brunswick rebounded from its loss to Rockingham Monday to eliminate West Stanly to set up a rematch at 5:15 p.m. today. The winner will represent North Carolina in the Dixie World Series beginning July 27 in Georgetown, S.C.

The Rockingham Bronco All-Stars downed High Point Black in its first game of the South Region tournament Tuesday in Charlotte. The team will return to the diamond at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a winner’s bracket contest.

The Rockingham 13-year-old Pony All-Star squad was victorious in the first round of the South Section Tuesday in Charlotte. The team routed North Mecklenburg 19-2 Tuesday and will face D.C. Force at 8 p.m. today.
