ROCKINGHAM — Despite knocking off an undefeated Hoke County team, Richmond Senior fell one spot in this week’s Associated Press poll.

The Raiders (6-0) received 99 points, while New Bern (6-0) garnered 102 to move from third to second after its 63-34 rout of previously unbeaten New Hanover.

Butler snagged all 12 first-place ballots to finish with 120 points. The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 on the year following their 60-0 victory over East Mecklenburg.

The rest of the poll remained relatively the same. Porter Ridge (6-0) remained fourth, Mallard Creek (5-1) stayed fifth, while Garner (7-0) and East Forsyth (7-0) are sixth and seventh, respectively.

Scotland (5-1) inched up a spot to No. 8 with its 42-0 Southeastern Conference win over Purnell Swett. Jack Britt (6-1) also jumped a spot to ninth after a 27-3 victory against South View.

Wake-Forest Rolesville (7-0) entered the rankings at No. 10 following its 31-21 win over Broughton.

This week’s NCPreps.com poll remains the same in the top four spots. Butler received 10 of 11 first-place spots to hold onto the No. 1 ranking. Richmond stayed second and snagged the other first place vote. New Bern and Mallard Creek were third and fourth this week, respectively.

East Forsyth and Garner tied for fifth, while Porter Ridge fell two spots to No. 7. Scotland and Wake Forest-Rolesville moved up a spot. The Fighting Scots are eighth, while the Cougars are ninth. Hoggard was No. 10 following its 40-34 win over Laney to improve to 6-0 this season.

The CarolinaPreps.com poll was full of changes again this week. The top three of Butler, Richmond and New Bern remained unchanged, but East Forsyth and Mallard Creek changed spots for the third straight week. The Mavericks jumped back into the fourth position, while the Eagles fell to fifth.

Scotland is ranked No. 6, followed by Porter Ridge, Garner and North Davidson (7-0), which all move up a slot this week. Rounding out the top 10 is Independence. The Patriots improved to 6-1 with their 34-10 win over Providence.

Richmond jumped to fourth in the Maxpreps.com rankings this week. Butler, New Bern and East Forsyth held onto the top three spots. Mallard Creek, Porter Ridge, New Hanover (5-1), Scotland, Garner and Roberson (6-0) rounded out the top 10.

Unlike the other polls which tabulates votes from writers across the state, Maxpreps.com uses computer-based rankings. The program takes into consideration quality wins against other highly-ranked opponents as well as strength of schedule.
