The request made by Billy Cipriani regarding a debate for the Sheriff candidates to discuss their position and to answer questions comes at an opportune time. Since the primary is a partisan contest, the Richmond County Democratic Party’s 2010 County Convention will have three question-n-answer forums, one involving the Democratic candidates for the Sheriff’s office, one for County Commissioners and one for the non-partisan Board of Education. Mr. Frye and all the candidates have been invited to attend and participate, and the schedules are planned to be mailed to them on March 29th. Because of the number of candidates and the expected questions, time will be limited for each reply. The Convention convenes at 10:00 am at the Washington Street School. The forums will begin at 11:00 am. All interested Democrats are urged to attend. Once the primary determines the Democratic candidate for Sheriff, a debate between that candidate and the Republican candidate, by a third party, will be appropriate.

Debate sounds like a great idea but how about doing the debate at night when the average working man (and woman) have a opportunity to attend. The school certainly has room for such a meeting and this would involve more public interest.
