Arlena Ratliff, daughter of Willie and Sylvia Ratliff of Rockingham, has been invited to join the National Honor Society of Collegiate Scholars.
NSCS is an honor society that seeks high achieving first and second year college students who are ranked in the top 20 percent of their class. NSCS is a prestigious program that offers numerous scholarships, job offers from corporate partners such as Liberty Mutual and teach For America and assistance with graduate school.
Ratliff is a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in Strategic Communication at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and minoring in African American Studies.
She is a two-time recipient of the Hayden B. Renwick Academic Achievement Award given annually to minority students with a 3.0 of higher GPA. Ratliff has been on the Dean’s List for three semesters and is the Vice President of the Alpha Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. Theta Nu Xi was founded on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill in 1997 and is the first and largest multicultural sorority in the Southeastern United States.
