Ralph Felton Smith, Sr.,88, of Marston died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. He was born October 25, 1920 in Richmond County, a son of the late Claude F. Smith Sr. and Casey Criscoe Smith.

Mr. Smith served in the US Navy and retired from Seaboard Railroad System. He was a charter member of the Marston Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son Ralph Felton Smith, Jr. in 2004.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Marston Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ritter officiating. Entombment will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors.

Surviving, His wife, Doris Alden Smith of the home. A daughter, Doris Anne Smith Moon and husband Jim of Pinehurst. A grandson, Mark Alden Moon of Baltimore, MD and two great-grandchildren Aldan and Colin Moon. A sister, Juanita McNeil of Marston. Two brothers, Claude Felton Smith and Jimmy Smith, both of Marston.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
