A Rockingham native, married mother of two, is the new director of the Ellerbe Senior Center.
Cindy Caulder began her new job Oct. 28 and so far is happy with the way things are going.
“I love it,” she said.
Caulder is a graduate of Richmond Academy and attended Richmond Community College and Stanly Community College.
Prior to getting hired at the senior center, Caulder cleaned houses. But a family friend working at the Rockingham Senior Center heard of the opening and thought Caulder would be the perfect woman for the job.
Caulder visited the Rockingham Senior Center first to see how things worked and if this was a job she wanted.
“Everyone was so caring and loving, it made me excited about getting here and having my own group,” Caulder said.
Caulder said she doesn’t have any big plans for the Ellerbe Senior Center, she just hopes to continue having programs her seniors enjoy.
“I just want to do what makes them happy,” she said.
Caulder said her group of seniors loves bingo, chair volleyball, art classes and the speakers that come to the center.
“I like everything about this job,” Caulder said. “I love my seniors.”
“My grandpa always said if you have a job you love you’ll never work a day in your life. And I’ve found that here,” Caulder said. “I never thought I’d find that, but he was right.”
