Mrs. Nina Wall Durden, 89, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013 in Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, in the Abundant Life Church with Pastor Joe Wilkes and Reverend Tina Gillis officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Ellerbe.

Mrs. Durden was born in Surery County on January 25, 1924 to the late William and Lillie Davenport Wall. Prior to her retirement she had worked in textiles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward C. Parr.

She leaves a daughter, Judy Durden Broadway of Wagram; grandchildren Lisa Lyons (Rodney), Sherry Williams (Greg), Jamie Williams (Genevia), Charlie Williams (Delia) all of Rockingham, Pam Davis (Jeff), Penny Cairo all of Polkton, Kathy Haywood (David) of Matthews, Kelly Taylor of Albemarle, and Edward Parr, Jr. (Wendy) of Waxhaw; a daughter-in-law, Frances Parr of Waxhaw; great-grandsons she raised as her own, Eric Durden of Wagram, Jeremy Cairo (Bree) of Greensboro; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; special caregiver Toni Ellerbe; and her beloved pet, Precious.

A visitation was held Monday evening from 6-8PM at Abundant Life Church.

Russell-Marks Funeral Home is assisting the family.
