Scotland Health Care System this week announced that William “Gray” L. Mills III has assumed the duties of Vice President of Strategic Development.
A Rockingham native, Mills joined the health care system in January 2007, as the Director of Physician/Community Relations and Marketing. In that role he was responsible for the overall management, administration, and service provided by the Physician/Community Relations and Marketing departments. Over the past five years, Mills has developed unmatched business relations with active medical staff members as well as medical providers in the System’s secondary market. He implemented a surgical services campaign which featured TV, radio, print, and billboard ads touting the fact that Scotland Health Care System surgeons were rated in the top ten for surgical quality in North Carolina. He also was responsible for the Health Care System’s new branding campaign “I’m a believer” and national award winning cardiovascular ads.
When announcing the promotion of Mills to the System’s associates, Greg Wood, President and CEO, said, “Gray will continue oversight of the marketing functions, but will also have executive responsibility for Scotland Regional Health Network (our physician practices), Rehabilitation Services, Physician Recruitment and Financial Analysis service. Gray has demonstrated he has the skills, attributes, and values to lead one of our most important strategic functions: growth of our key service lines and the integration of our physician practices into our system. He understands well how to work with groups of sometimes disparate individuals to align common interests and keep them focused to accomplish critical goals. With his new role, and stronger team, he will have the authority, responsibility, and accountability to ensure we continue to expand the quality and quantity of services we offer our communities.”
Mills states he is extremely excited about this new role and the part he will play in strengthening Scotland Health Care System and the medical practices affiliated with the System.
Mills is married to Karen Mills who is also employed with the Health Care System. The couple resides in Rockingham and has two teenage daughters, Hannah, 17, and Becca, 16.
