Margaret Freeman Heaton, 78, of 128 Central Avenue, Rockingham, died, Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at her residence.

The funeral was held Monday, Sept. 10, at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Childers, Rev. Frank McQuage and Rev. Royce Stutts officiating. Burial followed at Northam Cemetery, Rockingham.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.

She was born February 5, 1934, in Concord, daughter of William Lonnie Freeman and Nora Mae Drye Freeman.

Mrs. Heaton was a member of Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church and previously worked in textiles.

Heaton is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Faye Biggs, Verdie Benoist and Sarah Fowler; and brothers, Ray, Frank and Carl Freeman.

Heaton is survived by her daughter, Peggy H. Tanner of Rockingham; sons, William Lloyd Heaton, Jr. and Bobby Joe Heaton; sister, Sadie Greene of Elm City; eight grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
