On Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013, Mrs. Mildred Wallace Jacobs of Rockingham, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was born Mildred Lee Wallace in Richmond County, NC on May 3, 1934 to William and Viola Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wayne Wallace and William Wallace, Jr., and her beloved husband, Cecil Eugene Jacobs.

Surviving to treasure her memory are her six daughters, Janet McLamb and husband, Ritchie of Raleigh, Teri Melton and husband Gerry of Rockingham, Penny Jacobs of Rockingham, Karen Torrence of Fletcher, NC, Lori Lindsey and husband Stanley of Granite Falls, NC, and Miki Lynne Deese of Rockingham; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Martin, Whitney O’Neal, Stephanie and Michael Deese, all of Rockingham, Caitlin and Lucas McLamb of Raleigh, and Jacob and Matthew Lindsey of Granite Falls; one great-grandson, Jacoby Martin of Rockingham; two brothers, Jackie (Pam) Wallace of Dallas, NC, and Larry (Janet) Wallace of Raytown, Missouri; one sister, Mrs. Doris Steen of Florence, South Carolina; her sister-in-law Margaret Wallace of Charlotte, NC and her many nephews and nieces of both the Jacobs and Wallace families. Our mother would also like us to acknowledge the lifetime love and friendship she received from her Jacobs brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Mrs. Mary Baldwin of Hamlet was our mother’s very special friend and caregiver and is now a treasured member of our family.

Finally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff members of Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen and First Health Hospice and Palliative Care of Pinehurst for the assistance provided to our mother while she was under their care.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25 from 6 til 8pm at Freedom Baptist Church in Rockingham. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 11am at Freedom Baptist Church with Reverend Alex Perakis and Reverend Ronnie McLean officiating. Internment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, we ask those who cared for and loved our mother to help and assist someone in need and/or make a donation to their local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association of America.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Jacobs Family.
