Services will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Rockingham, to honor the life of Kitty Elizabeth Phifer Deaton. Kitty, 55, beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend passed peacefully from this life Monday, June 1, 2009.

 She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Haywood “Yo-Yo” and Jane Louise Phifer.

 Kitty leaves behind her husband Bill Deaton; sons, Michael (Jodi) Sharpe of Hamlet, Jim (Wanda) Sharpe of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Kelly Deaton of Salisbury; brothers, Haywood (Carmen) Phifer of Houston, TX, Dawson (Terri) Phifer of Hamlet; sister, Bonnie Melton of Rockingham; grandchildren, Perry and Griffin Sharpe, Joy and Nick Sharpe, Josey and PJ Howell, and Troy Latham. Also surviving are many dear nieces, a nephew, and a large extended family.

 The family will receive visitors from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.

 Kitty was the heart of her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
