As an avid fan of kayaking I was thrilled to see the clean-up on Hitchcock creek. I have paddled this stream both before and after the cleanup and it is a scenic and peaceful trip. There are other areas of the county that are also enjoyable to paddle as well. Starting at the bridge below Ledbetter dam and taking out at Terry's bridge is a good run to make especially when there hasn't been much rainfall. In severe drought conditions Ledbetter lake offers a day of paddling adventure and would be worth mentioning as a tourist attraction. I would like to see some recreational access to Ledbetter lake and portage trails around the dams at Ledbetter and Roberdel. I think it would be pretty cool to be able to kayak from Graham bridge to the Pee Dee River.....This would be a tremendous attraction for tourists as well as people and Industry wanting to locate to Richmond county. I am really surprised that this public asset has not been tapped into. So my recommendation would be to extend the Hitchcock creek restoration all the way back to Ledbetter lake, this would tie in nicely with the recreation park that is already there.
