If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life, said Chip Long of KC’s Biker Barn and Accessories. He and his wife Kathy are the owners of the new motorcycle accessory store, located at 2135 B Building U.S. Highway 1 north, just across from Food Lion in Rockingham.

The store features biker ware, boots, jewelry, helmet stickers, new and used leather ware and more.

The Biker Barn first opened its doors about two weeks ago, and the couple said they plan to hold a grand opening on Oct. 13.

Although they were raised in High Point, Kathy and Chip said they have lived on and off in Rockingham for the past 20 years. Kathy is also employed with DaVita Dialysis, and Chip is preparing for his second deployment to Kuwait with the Army National Guard.

“We’ve always wanted to do this and open a bar,” Kathy said about opening the bike store. She and her husband often spend their spare time riding motorcycles together, and a specialized store was the next project for them.

“We’re selling any kind of apparel needed for the motorcycle lifestyle,” Chip said. “We want to be a place where people can get a little extra for their bike, and we want to advocate the things that motorcycles do for the community — as well as to promote safety. Right now, it’s important for us to find out what people are looking for.”

Inside the store, customers can find an assortment of riding gear and special accessories.

In addition to gear, the store hopes to allow customers to special order parts, such as Custom Chrome and Küryakyn.

“It’s getting to be the time of year to ride,” Chip said. “We would love to be a destination — especially for motorcycle events at the Speedway … Nothing says American like the motorcycle subculture, so come see us and tell us what you’re looking for.”

KC’s Biker Barn is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
