Jesse James “Phil” Robinson, 79, of 1610 Page St., Hamlet, died Friday, Oct. 19, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held at Nelson Funeral Service Chapel in Rockingham on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Dobbins Heights Cemetery in Hamlet.

He was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Richmond County, a son of the late John and Maggie Robinson. He was educated in the Richmond County schools. Robinson was a graduate of Richmond Technical Institute, now Richmond Community College. He retired from Seaboard Railroad, now CSX.

Survivors include his sisters, Pauline York, Mildred Burnett and Esther M. Quick all of Hamlet, Barbara Broome of Lanham, Md., Jeanette Cooley and Teri Crosby of Hyattsville, Md., and Toni Robinson of District Heights, Md.; brothers Elijah Bobby Robinson of Capital Heights, Md., Willie J. Robinson of Washington, D.C., John Maurice Robinson of Forest Heights, Md., Irving Lamont Robinson of Suitland, Md., and James Robinson of Hyattsville, Md.
