Jerry Dale Sims, 76, of 490 Old Laurinburg Road, Hamlet, died, Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Carolina Medical Center, Pineville.

He was born February 6, 1936, in Trussville, Alabama, son of George H. Sims and Thelma Roper Sims.

Mr. Sims was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Hamlet, retired as a machinist from CSX, a member of Hamlet Masonic Lodge #532 and a veteran of US Army.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Chris Hawks officiating. Burial will follow.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Gobble Sims of the home; sons, Glenn Allan Sims and wife Janet and Dale Roper Sims and wife Melody all of Hamlet; brother, Troy A. Sims of Loris, SC; and three grandchildren, Christopher Sims of Ft. Bragg, Adam Sims of Fayetteville and Jessica Sims of Greensboro.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church New Building Fund, 518 4th Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
