James Earl Calhoun, 76, of 300 Wilmington St., Hamlet, passed away Sept. 10, 2012, at Rockingham Manor.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m., at St. Luke #2 F.W.B. Church, with the pastor, Elder Allen J. Sutton, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dobbins Heights Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham.

Mr. Calhoun was born July 1, 1936, in Lauren, S.C. He was self employed and attended public school in Lauren, S.C. He was a member of St. Luke #2 F.W.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie M. Calhoun, one brother, one sister, a son and a grandson.

Survivors include three daughters, Polly Calhoun and Joann Calhoun of Hamlet and Kimberly Calhoun of Rockingham; three sons, James T. Calhoun of Monroe, Randy Calhoun of Rockingham and Ricky Calhoun of German Town, Md.; two brothers, Alfonzo Anderson of Hamlet and Willie James of Burlington, N.J; five sisters, Nellie Robinson of Fayetteville, Ann Tribble, Lillie Refield, Arlnie M. King and Vera Evans, all of Lauren, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham in charge of the arrangements.
