The 500 clams from the Golden Seashell are being split five ways after its Tuesday morning discovery at the old Wal-Mart building in Rockingham.

Tonya Brown, Chander Brown, Corey Brown, Chynna Roger and William Johnson each took home one-fifth of the haul from their golden find.

Brown said she caught the bug for searching for the Daily Journal’s prizes after her mother discovered the Golden Egg four years ago.

“I really hope the Daily Journal will keep this up, because it gives you something fun to do with your kids,” Tonya said at the Daily Journal office Tuesday. “I’ve been out there with them since the very first clue. It got all of them thinking, and I liked the time we shared with it.

“It was worth seeing the looks on their faces.”
