Legal Aid of North Carolina will hold a clinic in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Office on 123 Carolina St. in Rockingham on Feb. 8.
The clinic is for residents who are seeking assistance because of a criminal arrest or conviction record that is interfering with finding a job, obtaining housing, or securing benefits.
Participation in the legal clinic is free and open to people who are eligible for Legal Aid assistance. Slots are limited and a person must register by Feb. 5 before attending. Anyone wishing to attend will have their criminal record confidentially evaluated to determine whether they are eligible for some type of relief.
The Legal Aid clinic is possible because of involvement from the North Carolina Central School of Law Pro Bono Program, Collateral Consequences of Criminal Convictions Project and volunteer private attorneys.
Legal Aid of North Carolina is a statewide nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services to low-income people.
