Earl Thomas (Tom) Ruffner, Jr, 76, of Hamlet, North Carolina, formerly of Front Royal Virginia died Monday, October 8, 2012 at the home of his sister, Edie Ruffner Reil of Front Royal, Virginia.

On Saturday, November 3, 2012, a “Celebration of Life” by Pastor Mike Derflinger will be held at the Riverton United Methodist Church at 55 East Strasburg Road, Front Royal, VA 22630.

Mr. Ruffner was born June 11, 1936 in Riverton, Virginia, son of the late Earl and Madglean Peters Ruffner. He worked with Seaboard Coastline Railroad and Wickes Lumber Coprporation. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge #532 in Hamlet North Carolina..

Surviving are his sons, Earl Thomas “Tray” Ruffner, III and wife Vicky of Wilmington, North Carolina, David Alan Ruffner and wife Adrienne of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Robert Ryan of Aspen Colorado. Three sisters, Edie Ruffner Reil and husband Tom, Ann Ruffner Cooper and the late Merrill T, and Faye Ruffner Miller and husband Glen and brother Donnie Ruffner and wife Wanda. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charlie Ruffner. Memorial Donations may be made to the Blue Ridge Hospice 333 W.
