Mrs. Doris Smith Rishel Potter, 82, of Hamlet died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Richmond Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Hamlet. She was born August 1, 1930 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late James Ernest Smith and Fannie Clark Smith.
Mrs. Potter was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hamlet, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. She retired as Branch Manager of Commercial Credit of Laurinburg, after having worked in the Rockingham office for twenty nine years.
A service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held Sunday, 3:00 p.m. September 16th at Second Baptist Church in Hamlet with Rev. Lloyd Grant, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the church.
Mrs. Potter is survived by three sons, Larry Rishel and wife Priscilla and David Rishel and wife Ann, all of Rockingham, and Robin Potter and wife Karen Sidorov of Fuquay Varina; grandchildren, Jamie Rishel and wife Dana of Asheboro, Jennifer Rishel of Hurricane, WV, and Melinda Rishel, Cody Rishel, Bonnie Potter, and Angela Mitchell, all of Rockingham, Nichole Wells and husband Daniel of Hamlet; great grand children, Caitlyn Rishel of Asheboro, and Gage Burdick and Spencer Burdick, both of Ellerbe, Dean Wells of Hamlet, Hailey Rishel of Asheboro, Xander Vaughn and Liam Vaughn, both of Hershey, PA, Micheala Zamarripa of Rockingham, and Malyiah Watkins of Rockingham; and two sisters, Lee Hust and husband Howard of Blanch, NC and Jean Moss and husband Roy of Rockingham.
