Zeb Jones, 81, of Rockingham, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at his home. He was born December 12, 1931 in Richmond County a son of the late, Manley and Mattie Leviner Jones. Mr. Jones served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the city of Rockingham.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 22, at 4 p.m. at Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Frances Jones; a step-son, Paul Faircloth; brothers, Ebb and Keller Jones; and sisters, Cleon Coward, Louise Coble, Effie Mauldin, and Ollie Jones.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Jones of the home; sons, Charles Jones of Gastonia and Michael Jones of Rockingham; a step-son, Tony Faircloth of Rockingham; a brother, Marshall Jones of Rockingham; and sisters, Flora Steele and Mattie Wheaton both of Rockingham; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Sidney Andrew “S.A.” Tadlock, 83 of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at his home.

S.A. was born January 11, 1930, in Union County, a son of the late Henry Luther and Lola Brewer Tadlock. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections after over 20 years of service. SA came to Rockingham with his family when he was 14 years old and as a young man sang with a men’s quartet. He enjoyed his music and riding his motorcycle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Leaton Montgomery Long Jr.: brothers, Henry Luther “H.L.” Tadlock, James William “J.W.” Tadlock, Bunyan Carroll Tadlock and Glen Tadlock; sisters, Bridie Lee Tadlock Young and Sarah Elizabeth “Lib” Tadlock.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Hutchins Tadlock of the home; sons, Martin Tadlock and wife LaRae of Bimiji, WI, Sidney Tadlock Jr. and wife Ellen of Troy, Garry Tadlock of Rockingham; daughters, Renee Overstreet and husband Bob of Lehi, Utah and Karen Tadlock of Fancy Gap, Va.; a foster daughter, Trinity Bennett of the home; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; brother R.V. Tadlock and wife Faye of Summerfield; sister Lois Bass and husband Bob of Four Oaks and sister-in-law Pat Tadlock of Marion, S.C.

A service to celebrate S.A.’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Hawks officiating. Interment will be held privately.

The family will see friends from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

SIM CLARK JR.

Mr. Sim Clark Jr., 90, of 215 Gin Mill Road, Hamlet died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home. He was born October 18, 1922, in Scotland County, a son of the late Sim and Mollie Taylor Clark.

Mr. Clark was a Maintenance Supervisor, retiring from Sapakco Manufacturing in Bennettsville.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the home on 215 Gin Mill Road, Hamlet. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the home.

Mr. Clark is survived by a daughter, Pam Mathis of Hamlet; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Lee Simmons of Laurinburg.

Watson – King Funeral Home in Hamlet is assisting the Clark family.
