Felicia Marie Burton and Joel Christopher Padgett Jr., both of Charlotte, were united in marriage at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Sweet Haven Church in Rockingham.

Officiating as the couple pledged their double-ring vows was the Rev. Mitchell Roller, uncle of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Roger and Debbie Burton of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Georgia and Jim Neivel of Shakopee, Minn. She is the granddaughter of Wilma Duncan and the late Donald Duncan, and Jerry and Pat Burton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. George O’Connell. She is a 2012 graduate of Empire Beauty School and is currently a stylist with Ulta Salon in Charlotte.

The groom is the son of Joel and Christie Padgett of Rockingham. He is the grandson of Monnie Jenkins and the late John Jenkins, Harry and Ana Ponds, and Pat and Barbara Padgett. He is a 2011 graduate of Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. He is employed with United Engineering Group of Charlotte as an Electrical Designer.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless fit and flare champagne ivory crochet lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and a jewel sash at her waist.

The bridesmaids wore primrose chiffon dresses with a shirred bodice and an a-line skirt featuring a drape side detail. The junior bridesmaid wore a primrose a-line dress with a cream sash that featured a jewel broach at the back.

The bride’s sister, Brittany Burton of Grand Forks, North Dakota, served as maid of honor. Felicia chose Holly Webb of Ellerbe, Danielle Gallimore of Asheboro and Sarah Batchelder of Eden Prairie, Minn., as her bridesmaids. Jordan Lear of Rockingham, cousin of the groom, served as junior bridesmaid.

The groom chose his father, Joel C. Padgett, Sr. as best man. Groomsmen included, Mac McLaurin of Good Year, Arizona, Brennan Johnson of Raleigh and Hunter Smith of Rockingham.

The wedding was directed by the groom’s aunt, Barbara Roller.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents were host for a dinner and dance wedding reception at Liberty Place in Rockingham.

Friday evening following the wedding rehearsal, the groom’s parents were host for a dinner and dance rehearsal party at Hinson Lake Lodge in Rockingham for approximately 120 family and friends.

The couple enjoyed a wedding trip to the South Carolina coast, and will reside in Charlotte.
