Looking for a skill that will get you a job locally in today’s market? Employers are calling Richmond Community College asking for upcoming graduates of the Electrical/Electronics Technology program who can work as electricians in residential, commercial and industrial sites.
Brian Terry, of Rockingham, has just joined RCC to head the program. A graduate of RCC’s Computer Engineering and Electronics Engineering Technology programs, he has worked as a contractor and served as the Code Enforcement Superintendent for the City of Rockingham. For the past three years, Terry served as the Code Enforcement and Permitting Supervisor for Moore County.
“My heart has always been in Richmond County, so I’m glad to be back working in the county. No matter where I have worked, I have always ended up teaching these skills and loved it. It seemed like a good fit for the college and for me when this position became available,” said Terry.
Students in the program study AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, digital electronics, programmable logic controllers, industrial motor controls, the National Electric Code, and other topics.
