This year, the Culinary Showcase will be held at a new location, the Pine Needles Reception Center in Southern Pines from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $50 per person or $90 per couple and include all food and beverages, including beer and wine, and one door prize ticket. Tickets are being sold at the Moore County Chamber of Commerce.
Garner is a television personality, restaurant reviewer, speaker, author, pitmaster and connoisseur of North Carolina barbecue and the best southern traditional foods. Author of North Carolina Barbecue: Flavored by Time and Bob Garner’s Guide to North Carolina Barbecue, Garner has also written extensively for Our State magazine, including a 10-part series, Bob Garner Eats, on traditional southern foods. On UNC-TV’s North Carolina Weekend, aired statewide on Thursday and Friday evenings, Garner is a familiar face in barbecue joints, exclusive restaurants and every type of eatery in between.
He has hosted UNC-TV specials, and has appeared on the Food Network’s Paula’s Home Cookin’, featuring Paula Deen, and Food Nation with Bobby Flay; The Travel Channel’s Road Trip; and ABC’s Good Morning America. Garner was also executive producer and host of a UNC-TV series, Carolina Countryside, celebrating North Carolina rural life, has been a featured speaker at the annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party in New York and the Southern Foodway Alliance’s annual symposium in Oxford, Miss.
