A change for the worse

To the Editor:

When Barrack Obama, promised “change” no one questioned what he meant. We are now beginning to see those changes.

This year, for the first time in 42 years, the yearly flyover to honor the spiritual foundations of our country and the men and women who serve in the armed forces, has been denied by the Pentagon

The “God and Country Rally” is held each year to honor the spiritual foundations of our country with emphasis on the men and women who have served and those who are now serving in our military.

This year’s rally would have included all five branches of our military with over 60 new recruits being sworn in.

After a request for the reason for the denial, Rally Director Patti Syme,(director of “God and Country rally”) says they were informed by phone and e-mail that this was denied because of the “Christian” nature of the event.

The Christian Defense Coalition says this is a “slap in the face” to all those who have proudly served or are currently on active duty in the armed services “Will the new policy of President Obama be that a person has to surrender their faith tradition to honor and pay tribute to our courageous men and women who serve in the military?”

This should be a question that each and every American citizen should ask themselves regardless of party affiliation.

This president has been one of many firsts: First president to refuse participation in the National Day of Prayer, first to object to honouring those who serve our country and the first to host a celebration in Washington for gays and lesbians.

When this president promised “change” he wasn’t kidding!

Thanks for your letter, Bonnie. I hope it helps enlighten people to The Change that he had in mind. I would like to point out a one more "Change" this administration would like to see.

Can you imagine the audacity of lawmakers to pass a law stating that water is owned by the state rather than private landowners?

If we don't contact our state representatives about the Water Resource Act of 2009, North Carolina's farmers will soon have to get expensive permits to pump water out of their own ponds. This is certain to drive up prices for all the food we buy. And we should forget about keeping our lawns watered, our clothes frequently laundered, and our cars clean- we will have permits, too. Do those things too often and you will be labeled as environmentally irresponsible.

The "Changes" to environmental policy are designed to include much higher rates for coal, oil, and water in order to reflect the "environmental impact" effect of their usage.

Do we really want these changes?

You are right Bonnie. All the changes I have seen are negative changes. You forgot about his changes he made to allowing research with stem cells. I really believe we are getting ready to see sad times ahead. I'm not saying we don't need changes, but I surely don't feel "safe" with Obama's changes.
