The camp is accredited by the American Camping Association and is staffed by young men and women from across the country and around the world.
Youth aged 8-14 participate in horseback riding, canoeing, archery, climbing, swimming, arts and crafts, cookouts, campfires, nature exploration, teambuilding, and high ropes. Adventure programs offer older youth (13 and 14 year olds) opportunities to gain compass, GPS and other outdoor living skills, plus participate in rock climbing and swift water canoeing. The activities help youth improve their leadership and communication skills while making new friends from across the state.
The group is also in the process of working out 4-H Summer Fun Day Camps. For more information, call 997-8255.
If you are interested in more information about 4-H Camp, and to pay a $50 deposit or the whole camp fee, contact the Richmond County Cooperative Extension Office at 123 Caroline St. or at 997-8255 or e-mail michelle_stumbo@ncsu.edu.
The fee for camp this year will be $325, which includes the camp fee, transportation, a camp T-shirt, and $15 of “store money” to use on snacks and souvenirs during the week. There are some scholarships available for camp this year. Contact the office for more information or to receive a scholarship application.
