Vacation Bible School at the First Baptist Church on 329 West Ave., Hamlet, is this week from June 17 - June 21, 2013. Time is from 6 to 8 p.m. Ages are preschool to seniors. This year’s theme is “Jesus Family Reunion.” The public is invited to attend.

ROCKINGHAM Mrs. Sharon Ann Hughes, 67, of Rockingham died Monday, June 17, 2013 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. She was born March 5, 1946 in Kenmore, OH, a daughter of the late George and Betty St. Lawrence.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of Ledbetter United Methodist Church. She had been employed with Video Zone in Rockingham.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19th at Ledbetter United Methodist Church with Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Richmond Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by a son, Jonathan Hughes (Carrie) of Rockingham; a daughter, Kristen Guinn (Chris) of Laurel Hill; two grandchildren, Savannah Hughes and Ava Guinn; and two sisters, Georgia DePriest and Sandra Cassinger. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Hughes, in 2009.

Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham is assisting the Hughes family.
