To the editor:

I am entirely fed up with the Daily Journal smearing the incident with young Ms. Taylor, almost daily, on the front page — in large print usually — as if she has committed some awful crime. Murders don’t get the this much scrutiny. According to your paper, Ms. Taylor has been threatened! Had one of the students tagged “Black Lives Matter,” no one would have said a word.

Principal Tonya Waddell, and the district administration who apparently agreed, appears to have discriminated against and politicized Ms. Taylor’s statement — and on the the taxpayers’ dime.

Where are the other inappropriate comments? Oh! There weren’t any.

Were I Ms. Taylor’s parents, I would sue Ms. Waddell and anyone else that was part of this. I believe that Ms. Taylor was singled out because she is white and made a statement that did not fit well with Ms. Waddell or the district folks’ political views. This was totally a political stunt.

Ms. Taylor has been threatened and accused of racism, but it appears that Ms. Waddell demonstrated her racism and political motivations. I would say to Ms. Taylor, keep your head up; you have neither said or done anything wrong. You are an American and you can say whatever the Hell you want — as longer as it’s not hate speech. So far you have not done that.

Get you a lawyer in your name. These folks may have put you in harm’s way. If you are threatened, be sure to advise the sheriff; he’s the best!
