To the editor:

This letter is in reference to a letter to the editor in Tuesday’s edition written by L. Ann Deese titled “Writers’ negative letters grow tiresome.”

Ms. Deese, if you are tired of reading the negative letters to the editor, then why did you have the audacity to write one?

The Daily Journal has received negative and positive letters to the editor for as long as I can remember about one thing or the other. And as long as you write negative or positive letters, then you will receive negative or positive responses. Besides, this is America! I have every right to write letters to the editor. I will continute to excercise that right.

But honestly, I have never attacked anyone. I only respond to letters to the editor with my name on them — like this one — and I will continue to do so until the good Lord calls me home.

I’ve been called names a lot worse than an ogre in my lifetime. And you calling me one is OK because it does not define who I really am. Some folks have called me an angel!

You are surely entitled to your opinion, Ms. Deese, and as you bloody well know, we all have one of those!

So I’ll play nice today and I won’t call you any names or anything negative because the folks who read your letter to the editor have already formed their very own opinion of you, good or bad.

I’m sure that the folks of Richmond County would love to read some more of your “positive” letters!

I’ll leave you with a little advice though, when you go to the editorial page, skip to the bottom of the letter and if it has my name on it, simply don’t read it. That’s what I do!

Keep up the good work and God bless and keep you. God bless America!
