ROCKINGHAM — The current weather system that has lingered over the area has once again caused Richmond Senior to postpone additional athletic events.

Richmond athletic director/baseball coach Ricky Young said the rain forced officials to postpone Friday's baseball contest with the reigning NCISAA 3A champion Charlotte Christian. The schools agreed to reschedule the game, but later Young realized it was when the Richmond scheduled its prom. Young said he and Charlotte Christian's Greg Simmons will discuss a new date.

In addition, Young said Saturday's varsity-junior varsity doubleheader with West Johnston has also been moved. The Raiders and the Wildcats will now square off March 29. The JV teams will hit the field at noon and the varsity contest will follow at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The baseball team (2-0-1) will return to action at home against Marlboro County. The start time has been pushed back to 6 p.m. Monday.

The Richmond-Whiteville girls soccer match Friday at Raider Stadium was called off because of the rain. Young said Richmond coach Bennie Howard and Whiteville coach Ronnie Todd are looking at possible dates to reschedule the contest, but nothing has been finalized at this time.

The girls soccer team (0-1-1) will travel to Bennettsville to take on Marlboro County 6 p.m. Monday.

Track and field coach Reggie Miller said despite the rain the boys and girls teams are still slated to compete in today's Weddington High School Invitational.

The Richmond softball team (4-0) will face Marlboro Academy in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Monday. The squads were set to square off Thursday at Raider Field, but rain postponed the contest. The teams were scheduled to face off again Monday in Bennettsville, but Richmond coach Wendy Wallace said the schools agreed to move the doubleheader to Raider Field.

The boys tennis squad is scheduled to play South View 4 p.m. Monday at home. The boys golf team will participate in the season-opening Southeastern Conference match 2 p.m. Monday at Bayonet at Puppy Creek in Raeford.
