LORIS, S.C. — The Temple Christian boys basketball team earned at least a share of the Carolinas Christian Athletic Association regular season title with its 64-51 road win Friday night at Grace Christian School in Loris, S.C.

Temple Christian is now 15-2 on the season and 9-1 in the CCAA.

Kurth Nelson and Cuentin Bridges both scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the way for the Tigers. Greg Hagins chipped in with 17 points and nine steals.

Temple Christian will return to action at approximately 6 p.m. today at home against Bible Baptist Christian School, which is located in Matthews.

Temple Christian’s girls team will battle Bible Baptist at 4:30 p.m. today. The Tigers are 12-0 overall and clinched the CCAA regular season championship last week with their win over Scotland Christian Academy.

Raiders return to action

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior boys and girls basketball teams will square off against Purnell Swett in a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The game was originally slated for Jan. 14, but academic testing forced the schools to reschedule the contests.

The Raiders boys are the only remaining undefeated team in Southeastern Conference play at 2-0. There are three schools at 1-1 — Hoke, Lumberton and Purnell Swett. Pinecrest and Scotland are both 1-2.

On the girls side, Scotland sits atop the standings with a 3-0 mark. Hoke, Lumberton and Richmond are all 1-1. Pinecrest is 1-2 and Purnell Swett has yet to win a conference game in two outings.
