The Marching Raiders of Richmond Senior High School participated in a band competition on Oct. 12.


Triton High School in Erwin, N.C. hosted “Havoc at the Hawks Nest.” Elevent high school bands from across the local region performed and competed in Triton Stadium. Two other schools joined RSHS in its division.


The Marching Raiders took the field and performed three selections from this year’s Chicago theme. The Marching Raiders brought four awards home to Richmond Senior High School.


They earned first place drum major, first place percussion, second place music Class 2A and third place band, Class 2A. The band field with a rating of “excellence.”


The most prestigious award was given to Mike Ward for Ugliest Band director. On Oct. 26, the Marching Raiders competed in Lumberton, NC. They competed in the 3A category and came home with 3rd in music.
