Martin Eugene Lyerly, 72, of 1004 Campbell Drive in Rockingham, N.C., passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Carolina Medical Center Specialty Hospital in Pineville.
He was born in Rockingham to the late Joseph and Edith Mae Lyerly.
He is a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the N.C. Department of Corrections.
He is survived by two daughters, Edith Ann Lyerly of the home and Judi Dennis of Hamlet; one son, Johnathan Keith Lyerly of Rockingham; three brothers, John D. Lyerly of Front Royal, Va., Joe Lyerly of Hamlet and Harry Lee Lyerly of Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Dardy of Newport News, Va. and Edith Nell Lyerly of Greensboro; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday at First Free Will Baptist Church in Hamlet with Pastor Tommy Hill officiating.
The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The burial will follow at Living Waters Penticostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Hamlet.
