SALISBURY — Emily Tucker was recently honored for her years of service in promoting local business.

The Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives recognized its 2017 Service Awards at the Staff Leadership Development Conference held at the Historic Salisbury Depot on April 27, 2017, according to a press release. The Service Awards recognize those members in North Carolina and South Carolina who have achieved significant years of service in the chamber industry.

CACCE presents a certificate of service for each five-year increment of service. Service includes a combination of executive and/or staff employment time in all chambers of commerce.

Tucker has been with the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce for 20 years and currently serves as president.

She was hired by her predecessor, Bennett Deane, in 1997 as an administrative assistant, then promoted to office manager.

Tucker completed her college education while working full time and raising a family and was promoted to president when Deane resigned in 2006.

“During these 20 years I have changed from an introvert to extrovert,” she said in a message to the Daily Journal Monday evening. “(You) definitely have to have a personality and a passion for the community you live in to work at a Chamber. My members have become like family and I wouldn’t change my career choice. We are very fortunate to live in Richmond County — great place to live, work, raise a family and of course do business!”

CACCE is a professional development organization dedicated to improving the educational opportunities for chamber of commerce executives and staff members in North Carolina and South Carolina. CACCE equips chamber of commerce professionals with leadership skills and tools to build innovative chambers. The organization was formed in 1994 when the North and South Carolina state chamber associations merged.
