James Brice Carriker Jr., 64, of Ellerbe, N.C., passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.


J.B. was born January 2, 1949 in Richmond County. He was the son of the late James B. and Blanche Dunn Carriker.


He was a member of McLean Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1967 and a member and past master of Elberta Masonic Lodge # 654, A. F. & A. M. He served on the board of directors of Richmond County Farm Bureau and for many years was active with the U.S. Special Forces, Robin Sage Auxillary. He had worked with S & S Wheel Alignment and Fairview Alignment and was a retired farmer.


Surviving are his daughters, Elaine Carriker of Bolton and Elizabeth Hinson (Freddie) of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Savannah and Abigail and a host of cousins.


The family will see friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the Ellerbe Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Stone and Rev. Donnie Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
