HAMLET — Police have charged a man with breaking into a Boyette Street home on Tuesday.
The victim told Hamlet police someone entered his home and took his wallet and other personal items from a counter near his back door during the night while he slept, the police department said in a statement.
A witness told investigators he had taken Michael Knight, 33, to the victim’s home around 1 a.m., and that Knight returned to the vehicle from the rear of the home with money and urged the witness to quickly drive him from the area, according to police.
Knight was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree burglary. He was booked into the Richmond County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
