ROCKINGHAM — The dog days of summer are in full swing, and the Humane Society of Richmond County is asking for help to find homes for more four-legged friends.
The second annual Bark and Bowl, a night of bowling fun to raise money for animals in the shelter, will take place at 6 p.m. Monday at Strikers Bowling Center, 110 E. Broad Ave., Rockingham.
The event will feature a large gift basket raffle, 50/50 raffle and a meal special of two hot dogs for $5. The price is $10 per person and includes bowling shoes.
According to Humane Society President Carolyn Herndon, last year’s Bark and Bowl drew 80 participants to the lanes and a similar number is expected this year, but Herndon would love to have more.
“We’re really excited about the second annual Bark and Bowl,” said Herndon. “We appreciate the support of the community in the past and look forward to their continued support Monday night.”
After the Bark and Bowl, the Humane Society’s next event will be the second annual Tossin’ for Tails Cornhole Tournament set to take place on Sept. 20.
