ROCKINGHAM — Seniors who have been taking part in art classes at the East Rockingham and Ellerbe senior centers are now able to show off their work in public at Leath Memorial Library in downtown Rockingham.

Their artwork has been placed in the display case in the library lobby, and it will remain there throughout the month of August. Deborah Knight of Leath Memorial Library said there is so much artwork that the works in the case now will be replaced with more in two weeks.

Also in the display case is a sign with a quote from these seniors’ art teacher John Moore, “East Rockingham and Ellerbe seniors proudly display the art they have created while attending art classes at their senior citizens centers. The classes are free and supplies have been furnished by Walmart and private donations. The classes will continue throughout the year.”

Anyone interested in checking out or joining the art classes can contact Ellerbe Senior Center Director Judy Tyndall at 910-652-6006 or East Rockingham Senior Center Director Donna Luther at 910-997-8832.
