CHERAW, S.C. — A 76-year-old man is accused of emailing child pornography and faces more than a century in prison if convicted, South Carolina’s attorney general said.

George Walter Krauss, 76, of Cheraw, was recently arrested for the second time in 17 months on child porn charges, according to a release from S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Krauss has been charged with 11 counts involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The attorney general’s office, which supervises the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, made the arrest last week.

The task force received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that images depicting children engaged in sexual activity had been disseminated from an email account traced to Krauss’ home.

Special investigators on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Chesterfield County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on July 17. The sheriff’s office is a member of the regional task force.

A computer and computer-related equipment were seized for further investigation, Wilson said.

Krauss was arrested and charged with 11 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count. Bond was set at $71,500.

Krauss was previously arrested on Feb. 15, 2013 and charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. That case is still pending.

The attorney general’s office will prosecute Krauss on the charges.

Wilson said all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
