Rather love is more powerful than hate is an issue author Robert D. O’Keef tackles in his book, Through the Crystal Snow. Readers can get a first-hand look at how difficult writing about the subject can be when Glenwood United Methodist Church hosts O’Keef at a book signing event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 15.

The church is located at 221 County Home Road in Rockingham.

O’Keef’s story takes place in the early 1800s and features the fictional Robert Tyler, a successful North Carolina planter, businessman and politican. Tyler learns that he is both the father of an adult son he has never met and that he is the target of an assassination plot.

Tyler knows that his opponents not only want to destroy him but also to destroy Lynnmont, his estate, and the Tyler Companies. In an attempt to save everything for his son, he makes the difficult decision to die for his son rather than live for himself.

The novel, published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises LLC last month, features mystery, romance and a surprise ending.

O’Keef, of Clemmons, N.C., will be available to sign copies of his book.
