HAMLET — When a tipster told police about a swerving car on the road, officers stopped it and found a wanted man in the passenger seat.

Hamlet police pulled the car over on Spring Street and arrested Aaron Dohogn, 32, of Hamlet, who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants in Scotland County, according to Capt. Rodney Tucker.

Dohogn was charged with felony larceny, larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and driving while license revoked. He was booked into the Richmond County Detention Center under a $12,000 secured bond.

Police issued a citation to the driver, 31-year-old Franklin Walters of Laurel Hill, on a charge of carrying a concealed handgun. Walters was not arrested.

He also was not charged with careless and reckless driving, indicating that police did not witness the erratic driving that the tipster reported.
