ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County sheriff’s deputies are asking for help locating a fugitive wanted on state and federal felony charges after they say he eluded capture last week.
Deputies tried to arrest 40-year-old John Adam Rillo of Cemetery Road outside the Montgomery County town of Candor on federal warrants July 11.
They say Rillo took off running through a dog kennel and the dogs stopped the deputy who was chasing him. Rillo was last seen running into the woods behind the Cemetery Road home.
Deputies say Rillo has been known to be armed and may have a bulletproof vest.
Rillo is wanted on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, resisting a public officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking and entering into a place of worship, larceny and injury to personal property.
Deputies say Rillo has previously lived in Randolph and Montgomery counties and may still have contacts in those locations.
Rillo has previous convictions of possession of stolen goods, breaking and entering, larceny and assault on a female.
Deputies encourage anyone with information on Rillo’s whereabouts to call the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 910-895-3232 or Richmond County Crime Stoppers 910-997-5454.
