HOFFMAN — A woman is accused of embezzling more than $1,500 from the convenience store where she worked, Richmond County sheriff’s deputies say.

Deputies say Heather Dawn Fogarty, 30, of Rivers Run Road in Hoffman, took money from Bostick’s BP on four separate occasions from June 10-16. The missing money came to a total of $1,728.29, according to arrest warrants.

Fogarty was arrested Friday and charged with four counts of embezzlement. She was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Bostick’s BP is located at 2161 Caddell Road, Hoffman, on the corner of Caddell Road and U.S. 1.

Embezzlement under $100,000 is a Class C felony in North Carolina. Under state structured sentencing laws, someone convicted of the offense with no prior criminal history faces a presumptive sentence of 4 years, 7 months to 6 years, 1 month in prison.

Records show Fogarty has prior convictions in Moore County for second-degree trespassing, forgery and passing worthless checks.

Fogarty was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
