ROCKINGHAM — Police say they caught two men with meth and meth ingredients in a stolen pickup truck.

Rockingham police say James Russell Hash, 33, and John Richard Patrick, 40, both of Rockingham, were seen at Walmart in a truck that had been stolen the previous week from Jacob’s Auto Sales.

After the two men were taken into custody, police say they searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine in the passenger floorboard. Police say they also found pseudoephedrine tablets, lithium batteries, butane fluid, syringes and other items throughout the truck.

Patrick was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

Hash was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth precursors and possession of drug paraphernalia and jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

According to N.C. Department of Public Safety records, Hash has previous convictions of second-degree burglary, breaking and entering of vehicles, breaking and entering and taking indecent liberties with a child.

Records show Patrick has been convicted on drug charges.
