Sabrina Sturdivant, daughter of a Rockingham woman pulled from the wreckage of a single-car accident on Rockingham Road on Thursday, contacted the Daily Journal Friday afternoon with good news.
Lena Williams, the 61-year-old driver of the vehicle is doing fine, according to Sturdivant.
Williams’ Pontiac sedan ran off the road and flipped several times, according to witnesses.
“God is awesome,” Sturdivant said. “My mother is able to walk today. She is basically doing very well other than being sore. No cuts or fractures. It’s hard to believe looking at what happened to that car, but this stresses the fact of how good God is, and that he is real.”
Sturdivant and her sister, Stephanie Barnes, are Williams’ only children. They want to express their gratitude to all who prayed for their mother.
“I saw the post on Facebook and the article in the newspaper,” Sturdivant said. “It was covered very discretely, people were talking all about it.”
Witnesses also noticed Williams’ small brown dog at the scene as first responders arrived. The dog was not injured and Sturdivant said the pet is happy to be home.
