Stacy Elizabeth Wells and Steven Craig Newton II were married on June 22, 2013, at six o’clock in the evening. The ceremony was held at the First United Methodist Church in Cary, North Carolina and officiated by the Reverends Rick Wilkerson and William Greene. Hosted by the bride’s parents, dinner and dancing followed at The Pavilions at the Angus Barn with music by Spare Change. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mudd, godparents of the groom, greeted guests at the reception.


The bride is the daughter of Doctors Steve and Ellen Wells and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Casper all of Cary, North Carolina and Mrs. Virginia Wells and the late Mr. Darius Wells of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a Juris Doctor degree in 2012 from the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She now serves as an assistant district attorney in the Wake County District Attorney’s Office.


The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Newton of Morrisville, North Carolina and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ballard and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Newton of Rockingham North Carolina and Dr. and Mrs. Roy Peele of Hamlet, North Carolina. He attended Young Harris Junior College in Young Harris, Georgia on a baseball scholarship and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 2009. In 2012 he received a Juris Doctor degree from the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and also an MBA degree from the Campbell University Lundy-Fetterman School of Business in 2012 graduating Summa Cum Laude He is an associate with Nicholls & Crampton, P.A. of Raleigh.


The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Maid of Honor was Rachel Wells of Raleigh, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Kathryn Newton, sister of the groom of Leland, NC; Catherine Kang of Boston, MA; Brittney Fleming, Brynn Goehrke, Katie Perry, Ashley Woolley, all of Raleigh.


The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were David Wells and Steven Wells of Cary, NC, brothers of the bride; James Brogdon of Columbia SC, cousin of the groom; Tyler Armstrong of Cary, NC; Michael Casale of Greenville, NC; Jonathan Darville of Wake Forest, NC; James Holcombe of Charlotte, NC; Captain Tyler Inman of Columbus, GA; Louis Rivoli of New York, NY; Andrew Schneider of Knightdale, NC; and Eli Wilkerson of Auburn, AL.


Scripture was read by Devon Williams and Julie Yates of Raleigh. Guests were greeted by Alexandra Cain of Apex and Kimberly Showers of Charlotte. Wedding music was presented by Dr. Christy Farrior.


A luncheon honoring the bride and her attendants was hosted by the bride’s aunt, Susan Cordle and cousin, Rebekah Mastri at The Cardinal Club in Raleigh on the eve of their wedding. A rehearsal dinner was given by the parents of the groom at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary on Friday evening. A brunch honoring the couple was held on Sunday morning at the Prestonwood Country Club hosted by family and special friends.
