Hamlet natives Wayne Goodwin and Jason Strickland, both Richmond Raider alumni, unexpectedly crossed paths at the Cary Rotary Club recently. Goodwin, who serves as the statewide elected North Carolina insurance commissioner, presented a program about what he does for North Carolina, including the $2.4 billion in savings his N.C. Department of Insurance has achieved through rate cuts, rebates, refunds and negotiations. Strickland, a Rotarian, is an attorney for the Ward & Smith law firm in Raleigh. Both men continue to have family members in Richmond County.
