HOFFMAN — Town leaders will receive an $87,000 state grant to establish a park for northern Richmond County residents, Gov. Pat McCrory announced this week.
The town of Hoffman was awarded funding from the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund, McCrory said in a Dec. 14 letter to Hoffman Mayor Tommy Hart. The state Parks and Recreation Authority will contact Hart with instructions for beginning the project and obtaining the funds, the letter states.
Hoffman’s state legislators, Rep. Garland Pierce, D-Scotland, and Sen. Tom McInnis, R-Richmond, supported the town in its application for the state grant.
“I am excited to see growth in the community,” Pierce said in a Thursday statement. “This grant can benefit the citizens of Richmond County for the better. I thank the elected officials and the governor for making this come to pass and for making this a reality.”
